Texas speed 2 inch header installed

a few of you have been following my posts..

first the blower was ported.. I went the extra mile on it and really opened it up.. then i ported the snout to accept the nick williams 102. Brent from LPE sent me a fantastic cold air, my fav pulley the 2.38 and the CBI here in St louis hooked me up with a set of TEXAS SPEEDS new 2" primary headers and cat delete..

We tuned the car tonight and it is fantastic.. This is the second car i have done with the 2.38 pulley and man I am glad i went with it again..

Everybody told me that porting the blower and the 102 would help with boost, but the headers would cause a two pound drop in boost.. well i drove and watched him loggin as we tuned. This car makes 15.2 pounds of boost according to the factory sensor at 5600 rpm and carries it all the way till a raised 6400 limiter.. I would say my porting worked..

the car sounds CRAZY.. it is 100% drivable.. want to know what the car with headers and stock exhaust sounds like? unplug your flaps in the mufflers and drive it around. I plugged mine back in and setup like that it is actually QUIETER driving around at highway speeds and in traffic than with factory stuff and the flaps open all the time.. I was AMAZED! you open the throttle and when the flaps open it just rips..

My guy at CBI has installed several sets of the 1 7/8s headers on ss and told me they were just as good of a fit and finish as the more expensive headers out there and I showed up just as he was putting them on.. they fit the car great, they look SUPER NICE, what little you can actually see of them from up top, and fit the stokc catback right out of the box with the supplied cat replacement sections, which by the way look just like cats, so the car would 100% for sure pass a visual inspection by any random nosy ass trooper..they look just like cats.. they are just hollow..

I also added ID 850s and right now, with no cam the car is happy set between 11.4-11.8 commanded afr and the injectors are at about 75%... the car is making power.. I will be putting it on the dyno soon.

Wow! 15+ pounds of boost is great. Can't wait to see the dyno results. With that much power and the cooler temps I'm sure traction is only a memory. I enjoy reading your reviews and appreciate you taking the time to document the steps along the way.

great job as usual! Can't wait to see your dyno results and track times! 15 pounds of boost is seriously kick ass with 2" headers! So, the verdict is you like the way the headers fit...cool. I may have to order a set soon.

How bad are the fumes from the exhaust now without cats? Tolerable or no? Lol. Only ask cause I just ordered 2" headers from them and read several posts about the awful smell without cats.

Some prefer the smell without cats. It smells like a real car

I had my cats removed and I don't smell any fumes. Either I am going to fast or the windows up and the car is sealed really well.

It is odd that the MAS is on the front of the tube?

I could turn the tubevaround.. it does not matter.

The car does have a slight smell depending on wind and such just like any other car without cats.. if you are picky, get cats..

I am having issues with the car throwing a fit on down shifts. Some fast torque managment code I have never seen os causing the car to act up every once in a while.. my tuner is handling it.. pming hp about it.

If you plan on putting a cam in the car, I might recomend cats.. but with these headers they can be added later so easy.

Did you do the header install yourself?
I'm on the fence between 1 7/8 or the 2"
heard the 2" are more difficult to install than the 1 7/8".

Yes.. you do not need to spend a grand to make 14-15 pounds if boost.. iv said it before and ill say it again, only places trying to milk you for money try and say otherwise..

This is my SECOND car with this pulley setup.. other is my wifes 43, 000 mile daily driven 2011 ctsv coupe..lowers are fine if thats ALL YOUR wanting but I dont get the two pulley crowd unless you just like spending money.
