1968 Pontiac Firebird-$20,000-WTB for Air Force CMSgt!
Good evening--long story short I am career Air Force who is getting close to retiring and/or want to treat myself with a new toy for making E-9--I was born in 1968 so want a classic muscle car from that year--have always loved/wanted a 68 Camaro--however lately have been interested in the possibility of a 68 Firebird--I think they are very underrated and while not the name of Camaro I think in many ways a sharper looking car--I found this one on EBay that I REALLY like--price seems good--$20,000--curious on your thoughts and opinions--here is link as well as details owner
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/251208840157?...9#ht_500wt_922 Bought the car in 1981. He replaced the rear fenders, the transmission and the rear axel. The car is in very good shape. Never seen winter and rarely driven in the rain during summer. It's stored in a garage with carpet underneat and a tarp covers it to preserve from dust. Here's more info about the car. The transmission is a Muncie 4 speed M21 in aluminium. The shifter is a Hurst competition plus. The motor is a 1968 Chevrolet 350 with 300 horse power. It has headers on the motor. The carburator is a Holley with aluminium intake. It has power break and power stearing. It has a new windshield. ALL the chrome was redone all around the car. It has a new vynil top. It has a new gas tank with a new electric gas pump. The paint was done in 1985. |

Chief,
I love the First Gen Firebirds, that will be my next project after my '67 Camaro is done. I think that they are amazing cars. I looked at the ad, Just my opinion, I don't think that I would pay that much for that car. I spend alot of time looking at cars and I think that you can get an amazing car if you bide your time and spend right around your budget. The fact that the pics are all over thirty feet away and it is a near three decade old resto I would be willing to pay half of what they want. Check local car shows and you will find someone with an incredible car that needs cash immediately. |

This guy had an ad up back in November asking $19k for the car and he's now at $15k. Ifr the mechanicals are solid you could get the car and have enough left over with a $20k budget to really make it your own. Just dont get in a hurry and jump on the first thing to come by. Congrats on making Chief, I really need to stop changing career fields so I can advance. I've been a 3E271, 3PO71 and now a 1C3... in that order.

Congrats on the promotion. I bought my 2010 when I got my promotion. I agree with the guys above in that I'd look around a bit. The ebay ones looks nice, but it's been done for a while, plus it's in Canada so you gotta take that into account. You'll be able to find something better and probably a bit cheaper if you look around. If you happen to find something in the South Carolina area, let me know as I'd be glad to go look at it for you. Gotta take care of a fella AF member.
