2SS/RS Is the RS option really worth it?
I am the proud new owner of a 2SS/RS, 6 spd manual, yellow with black stripes. I love the car. I have to hand to GM. The car is an instant classic, everything I hoped it would be. I have had it a little over a week now. I have seen several others around and after talking to a couple of other owners, I am really questioning the value of the RS package on the car. I'm glad I have the RS package and I think it makes the car more valuable in the future but I think the price for this package on the 2SS is a bit of a rip. My car also has the upgraded polished aluminum wheels, which I prefer over the painted midnight silver, but now I'm using less of the standard RS content.
So when I boil down the RS package adder, I basically paid $1200 for the head lights, tail lights, painted roof ditch moldings and red badges. As cool as the head lights are, I'm not sure it such a good value on the 2SS. It seems like a better deal on LT cars, where the standard wheels are smaller. Anyway, I'm glad I have it because the front of the car looks better. I'm just not sure it was worth the $1200. |

People on here have priced out on just the HID/Halo lights themselves and they come pretty close to $1000+

I agree the RS package would add "More Value" to the car espically to the LT models but it does make the SS model the entire package with the RS I mean 1200 bucks with all those extra things is by no doubt a good value. The head lights alone aftermarket would prolly cost a lot.
I however did not get the RS with my LT because I am not a fan of the head lights nor did I like the lip spolier. It does all come down to perference in the end. but do I think the RS package is a good deal for the money? Definately |

I thinks its worth it monetary wise just for the headlights and when you are spending that much money whats another 1200 because down the road after its long paid for i will sure be glad i went ahead and optioned the car out when i had a chance cause yea you can add the stuff aftermarket but its just not the same IMO

I believe the RS package is more than a $1200 add on for the LT's because you're getting more... bigger wheels/tires, spoiler.
EDIT: $1450 add on for 2LT, $1750 add on for 1LT

RS package is also done by the manufacture and if you just really dont want to spend time, money on the upgrades you will have to do for the headlights then its worth it. I am not a fan of the spoiler if that what you want to call it. I would think it would have been better for the LT version, and even more different and unique for the SS. I think GM may have made a mistake on this. Least if they would have polled the loyalist im sure they would have told them the same.

It's amazing!

Yea, but in a few months we will have aftermarket HIDs that cost MUCH less. It isn't worth it on the SS in my opinion unless you want the wheels and lights. Also, HIDs are a PITA to replace. I have them on my Lexus and it costs $150 to replace both bulbs. This is from Xenon Depot too!!!
