Long Island - Window Tinting & Clear Bra Paint Protection

Anyone know of any reputable places that can do window tinting and a place that can apply a clear bra in Central-ish LI? (Around Ronkonkoma area or not too far away)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had my windows tinted at auto addiction they are on merrick road in amityville I think, prob like 30min from u.

It came out really good, I got the 15%

Cool thank you for the information. 15% huh? I know 30% is the max in NY...but just curious, is 15% even dark at all? Or were you just going for the UV protection and not so much the darkness?

Online 30% even looked like little to nothing. I wonder if it will look darker because my car is Black on Black?

Lower the number the darker. . . Limo is 5% which is what I originally wanted but they talked me out of it. 15 is a good compromise.

As far as I kno any extra tint on your front windows is illegal in NY so just get them as dark as u want n lower both windows when getting pulled over.

You are quoting the % of visible light (VLT), whereas I was quoting % of the tint blocking the light. My apologies...

As for NYS law, I used to think the same thing but I found the following law on http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us/menugetf.cgi?COMMONQUERY=LAWS.

Under (VAT) Vehicle & Traffic
- Article 9
-- Section 375
--- Subsection 12-a
---- Part B(2)

No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any public highway, road or street where ... the sidewings or side windows of which on either side forward of or adjacent to the operator's seat are composed of, covered by or treated with any material which has a light transmittance of less than seventy percent.

So, to my understanding, you can tint the front windows. As for getting pulled over...if a cop pulled you over and it was for the tint, rolling your windows down will do nothing. You are screwed, period...if anything it might piss them off because they might think you are trying to be a smart*** by hiding what they already saw. Just saying... That's why if I decide to go ahead with tinting, I will place the legal 30% tint (70 VLT%)...just not sure if it will look good.

I had 30% on another car, got pulled over for it and the cop used his tint meter device then gave me a ticket, he said any tint over what cane from the factory was illegal. . . It was in Huntington. This is just my experience, I'm not saying u r right or wrong. . .


When I'm getting pulled over in this car the tints are the least of my worries!

anything less than 70% is illegal in NY. So basically if you can see that the windows are tinted or look dark, good chance is they are illegal. 70 % is very light and hard to tell they are tinted. Regardless I used TopEdge in Smithtown,they did a great job.

Umm...Yeah that's what i said. The legality of window tint isn't in question. I just don't want this to turn into a thread arguing legalities.

Island Sound and Security did my windows , , Lifetime Gty, 20 % looks great and doesn't inhibit visibility through the rear window which is most important to cops i believe. They wanna see whats going on inside as they are approaching your car. They are located on Pine Aire Dr. in Bay Shore.

That's 20% tint (80% VLT)? Wow... Looks a lot darker. Are you sure it's 20% tint? Hehe...
