Camaro v6 running to rich

So I have a v6 with a cai and mrt axle back. These been on for about 25+k miles and nothing came on. Now the cel keeps coming on and off. I had it checked and it says the car is running to rich. My tailpipes are black all the time and the back of my car has soot all over the back of it. I had the connections to the cai checked everything good. I haven't heard this before from my setup. Anyone know a fix to this or the issue ?
Thanks

These cars run rich, perfectly normal what you are seeing.

What is the code for the CEL you are seeing? Probably has nothing to do with what you are seeing.

Go to any auto parts store. Advance auto, pep boys, auto zone and have them put a hand held scanner on it and see what the code on the scanner for the cel is.

Your mods really won't make your car run rich. They do run a little rich from the factory but if you're getting a cel that says you're running rich something isn't right. How is it running besides that? If it isn't running ruff try and reset the ecm. Maybe the maps are off a bit for some reason. If it's running ruff maybe you need a tune up...plugs/wires... How many miles do you have?

When my car was getting tires I had them look at the code and that's how I could "running to rich" just not sure why the cel is popping up from it. Other camaro owner say there tips only get a little black. Mine are black including the back of my car. I don't think that's good

Without the code there isn't much we can help with. But I do have to say my car has been running abnormal and rich ever since my MRT install.

I have about 75k on the car. I was thinking that I haven't noticed anything different drive wise.

I have a mrt v2 and I drive only in the city and get about 12 mpg and my tips are always black also. Is it possibly that the poor gas mileage is due to the car running rich?

This thread confuses me with everyone saying the v6s run rich from the factory -- every dyno sheet that I've seen with AFR shows the car runs lean...? Or is that only at WOT that they lean it out? The local tuner in the Detroit area (Dr Phil) told me the factory tunes the direct injection cars lean, too?

A lot of the Camaros run rich, when I had my CAI and Headers installed, I had a check Engine light on all the time, Getting a Triffecta tune got rid of that. They also said my Air/Fuel ratio was below 10. ( it should be closer to 12), Not only did it increase my HP, my gas millage improved by quite a bit.

What octane are you using? I found that using premium in my V6 caused it to run rich and my tailpipes were always black. I went back to using 87 octane and the pipes don't get near as black near as fast.

Every V6 I’ve seen from the factory runs on the rich side, especially if you use 93. Better to run rich then lean anyway.

I used to run 89-91. Now I run 87. It has been off for a few weeks but came on the other day. I know rich is better then lean but I believe I'm way to rich. Like I said. When I wash my car the back of my car is speckled with black dots very bad. Something isn't right. Maybe plugs n wires?

Until you get the code(s) it's nothing but a guessing game.
