Trunk Space Question (Convertible)
Hey Guys,
I bought a 2013 Camaro SS Convertible that I haven't taken delivery of yet. Is there a compact fold up canopy that will fit in the trunk area? (A Canopy used for shade that you would sit under to protect you from the sun.) If so, would you please list the size, brand, and where you bought it from? I'll be taking it to a few carshows this summer and thought I'd start looking now. Thanks, Brian

By fold up canopy are you referring to the tonneau cover that comes with the convertibles. Well if you are it does fold up and it does fit in the trunk.

Sorry for the confusion.
I revised my post so that it's easier to understand.

I bought one from Wallyworld for $75 that is actually made for backpacking. it is either 6x6 or 6x8 with one side to block wind/sun if needed. It stows into about an 8" x"8 X36 bag. Plenty big enough for wife and I to sit under with a small table between us. I also have a 10x10 from Target that has 3 leg sections instead of 2 so it folds into 9x9x40. Not real durable though.

I usually just take a couple folding chairs and park next to someone that has one set up already, they always seem to invite me to join them

I think he means a pop-up tent kinda canopy.
I'm not 100% sure. The length is the real issue because of the fact that you won't have a drop down rear seat. I found these dimensions from an old thread on the coupe. They said the measurements of the opening were 34'' wide by 15.5'' deep and the inside of the trunk is 54'' at widest point, 47'' wide between the wheel wells. Not sure how deep and I know when the top is down there is a bar that you pull out to make room in the trunk for it so it will eat up some space. It would have to be a fairly small canopy unless you wanted it to ride in the back seats. Most 10 x 8's I've seen are close to 54" collapsed which won't fit due to the opening size on the trunk.

When I had my Corvair I had a Small beach umbrella and a stand I made out of an old brake drum I would put in the trunk. Like the other poster mentioned the trunk opening is your biggest problem. I would just put it in the back seat.

Thats exactly what I'm looking for. One that will fit in the trunk.
Those dimensions of the truck opening as well as the inside measurements are very helpful as well. Thank You! Quote:

Thata a little before my time but I remember this from when I had my 71 Vega Hatchback. It was an actual option you could buy from Chevrolet.

Kinda like a convertible with a broken 5th bow...
![]() I have a canopy I bought from Dick's Sporting Goods. It's 6' X 6', and compacts to 8" X 8" X 30" in the bag. It fits nicely with two camp chairs under my top when it's retracted. I still have room for my cleaning supplies and soft cooler behind the top. I think I paid $69 for it, and it's Inferno Orange to match the car.

Do you have the model number for this canopy?
I was on their website and saw a 10x8 in black for $99, with an overall length of 52" folded up. I think that would be alittle to long to fit inside the trunk. Quote:
