I want to put together a spare tire kit for my 1LE. I have a spare front wheel from my 2012 45th Anniversary SS and am trying to decide what size tire to use as a "happy medium" that'll work for the front & back for emergencies only.

I did the same thing for my 1SS. I bought the jack, lug wrench, foam container from the dealer. Also bought a used stock front rim from a member here and mounted a front tire 245/45/20 on it. It's the same diameter as the stock rear tires (at 275/40/20) so it will work on the front or back.

I got a Cooper Zeon RS3-S tire because it's non directional (same as Pirelli P-Zero), so it can be used on either side of the car. I keep the spare tire strapped down in my trunk at all times.

Sure you could do the same for a 1LE.

This is what matters most...different diameter in the rear will make a TON of heat in the differential, and can kill a posi in short order (just driving the car home or to the tire shop).

I've got a 20x10 ET TWS Nurburging with a stock size 285/35/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport fits front or back. Spoke to a couple folks at Tire Rack...they confirmed that it would work on either side at highway speeds with no issue even though it has a designated direction. Not like it would be on there permanently, but would work in a bind with no issues at all.

I just want to make sure I find the right combo that measures up right and want to cover my bases on possible issue I haven't though about.
