2012 Buick La Crosse

Ok, so my mom is looking at buying a 2013 LaCrosse, and I am looking at all the simmilarities between the Buick and my Camaro. The DIC menus are pretty much the same, but the graphics are amazing, the ABL goes accross the dash, the car has pretty much everything interior wise that the camaro has, but steps it all up. My question, why does GM go hardcore on the interior on cars like these, and give cars like the camaro the "cheaper" stuff like the blue dot matrix DIC, as opposed to the color one on the LaCrosse. I can see maybe the lower model ones for cost reduction, but when, for example, you buy a zl1, I think you shoud get some more bang for your buck.

Well one reason is that they are charging a slight premium on the Buicks as they are meant to be a luxury car to compete with Lexus. So it should have slightly better features in some ways. The Camaro is and always will be a Chevy which means it needs to give up somewhere so that it can provide value and the most bang for buck in the areas that count. The hard part is what do the keep and what do they give up. It's those decisions that keep the Camaro team up late most nights.

Because it's a Buick.

The engineering for the camaro platform is probably more expensive seeing as how it is rwd and niche, whereas the lacrosse sits on a mainstream fwd that is shared across chevy, buick, and caddy. I think this frees up some of their budget so they can throw more creature comforts into the package.

See, this is what confuses me.

If this is to compete with Lexus, what is Cadillac?

As said Caddy is meant to duke it out with BMW and Mercedes on the Sportier luxury side.

I really like the new Buicks that have been coming out. A Regal GS stands a good chance of finding it's way into my driveway some day. Unless that new twin turbo V6 is dumped into another car as a Grand National. Then I'll be drooling over that instead.

Since the beginning it's been
Cadillac
Oldsmobile
Buick
Pontiac
And Chevy
In that order granted a couple of the players are gone but the pecking order remains. Chevrolet has always been the entry level car company.

If they still made Pontiac, I bet the Trans Ams would have better interiors and graphics and such. And cost a little more than a Camaro. Buick is luxury, if they ever come out with a high output Buick again, it will cost a pretty penny. Chevy Camaro you pay for performance.

That makes no sense. Lexus is a luxury company, just the same as BMW, Mercedes and Audi. If anything, its better as countless reports have come back for reliablity, dealer treatment, initial value.

Please try again.

Lexus is not on the same level as an Audi, Merc, or BMW.
