Aftermarket Hood Reinforced to Accommodate Reverse Hood
Can anyone who has a carbon fiber hood (like a VIS or Seibon) with a Halo reverse hood kit installed tell me how they reinforced the mounting areas for the hinge and shocks? I've seen a few pictures of installed reverse carbon fiber hoods, but I can't find anyone who has mentioned doing this, or if there's been issues with wind or cracking. Here's one picture I've seen, not sure who's the owner:

I was planning that exact setup. What I concluded is 2 things.
1 / you must have the shop that's doing the work reinforce by adding fiberglass to the areas that will have the stress points. The gel coat will Crack if there is to much stress in one area from what info I've gathered. 2/ it won't be cheap to modify it correctly. I decided against it for these reasons

I do not recommend the reverse hood at all!! I had it for a couple of years and not worth it in my opinion...the kit is just crap....it's flimsy and the hood will wobble. You have to guide it down to shut or can ruin your fenders. My kids tried to close the hood once and the hood gets off track if not guiding. I have since gone back to regular opening. I also didn't like people leaning on fenders at car shows or when showing off car.

If you do decide to do the kit on fiberglass hoods those areas have to be re enforced. It needs to be done with metal and re enforced otherwise it will not hold up. There is a write up on C5 that shows a guy putting a metal plate in his carbon hood to secure the front of the bracket. The front is where most of the security comes from. The side shocks do nothing but guide the hood. They are cheap and do nothing to hold it up
