Dealers still saying they have allocations? 6/20/09

I feel like some of these dealerships are lying to me over the phone since they are all local and a couple have told me they have allocations left.... If I go into the Dealership to order one does anyone know of anyway I can verify they are actually telling me the truth? I don't want to order one just to find out I will probably never get it. Especially since I am putting $500 down.

So its a standard thing that each dealership gets X amount of allocations each and every month? Not possible they accept orders that would fill out their allocations for the remainder of the year?

GM will only take so many orders a month from each dealer. That is what they are calling an allocation. GM determines this number based on the dealers recent sales performance.

If your dealer will tell you his allocation number, the next thing would be to get him to tell you how many orders he has taken, and where you are on that list.

He may have 50 orders and you may be #10 on his list, but his allocation is 5 a month. This means your order won't even be picked up by GM till the end of the second month.

The sticky point here is your not really gonna know anything unless the dealer lays his cards on the table. figure the odds.

your best bet is to find someone who got their car and it turns out the dealer treated them honest. get that dealers name and go there and take it on trust.

by the way my sales lady is Ann at Langs Chev in Beavercreek OH. I've talked to another camaro5 member who already got his car from her. She's good people.

Diaboli thank you so much this cleared things up for me quite a bit...... So basically I want to find a dealer that will honestly sell at MSRP and try to find one that gets the highest amount of allocations each month but has the lowest # of total orders.

I wonder how many orders each dealership has on average... If I had to guess it would be 15-75 depending on location of Dealership. Does anyone have an idea of how many allocations a dealership that does very well gets per month? 10-15?

My dealer, Ourisman Rockmont Chevy in Rockville, MD tells me they still have allocations. My salesman, Bill Shenberger at 301-424-5900, says they haven't had many people willing to put money down. They are asking MSRP. Mine is supposed to be here on Wednesday!! I ordered 3/4/09. If you call tell him Joe Pitt sent you.
