why does my 10 ss 6m have 2 diff size axles

My 2010 camaro ss 6m has one big thick axel on one side then the other side has a smaller one? Anyone know why

they do that to reduce wheel hop.

Ok thanks just confused me can on the driver side it is a huge axle then the passenger side its not as big

Yeah, basically they found that going with different diameter half-shafts eliminated a special kind of vibration harmonic. What was happening is that as the wheels started to skitter a bit, they ended up amplifying each other when the same diameter axle was used on both. But if you make one bigger, the problem goes away. They wheels still hop a bit, but they don't amplify each other. At least thats how I remember it being explained. GM started doing this on either the CTS-V or the ZR1

On the ZL1, the larger one is hollow, and the smaller one is solid. Again, yo fight wheel hop.

This was a lesson learned on the first gen CTS-V. That car was a power hopping machine from HE!!
