Engine ticking noise

On a cold start up, my engine has a distinct ticking noise....any idea as to why?

Could be the typical LS engine valve train noise. Someone on here described theirs as sounding like a sewing machine, haha. I've read that these LS engines are infamous for this type of sound.

If it's really loud, it can't hurt to have a shop check it out. Some L99 cars have issues with the lifters. Not sure of that affects LS3s, too.

Not a problem with the LS3. L99 gets it because of the AFM parts.
