Getting fed up: weekend #3

This is now weekend #3 without my Camaro, all because it was keyed.

I put it in the shop on Monday 7 July. During that week the shop could do no actual repair work. Why?

Well, the Insurance Co insisted that the shop try to buff it out. The paint was broken though, on both panels. Buffing doesn't replace paint. So the shop had to try, and then when that failed, the adjuster had to make time to come by and look again. So by Wednesday this week the shop had the OK to actually do the work required. That's ten days extra. And of course they had to work on cars that they could actually work on in the meantime so that ate up time too because the guy that was on my car got pulled off for another job. In effect- I'm first in line but I still get to wait.

I hope all y'all are getting to enjoy your car this weekend. I forget what mine looks like.

I feel your pain. You could probably be driving it while you wait but I understand you probably don't want to.

Insurance companies are a hassle.

Man this sounds just like my differential failure job...It was at the dealer for 10 days without getting looked at and then took until day 28 to finish it..had the car back on day 29..

This is also sounding like the wait time to get my concealed handgun permit...though it's been 70 days and I finally got the confirmation that it's on it's way...

I hope it all works out for you buddy it'll be a huge relief when you get it back

Any idea who or why they keyed it, or was it just random? That sucks!

Indeed. This is the final straw with them I think. Hardly the first problem they have caused when my vehicle was damaged.

Well hopefully the end result is good.

My insurance company has places that they certify to make those decisions for them and it cuts out the middle man (adjuster). Even when I choose my own shop, not on their list, it's a quick phone call to make things happen.

Good luck.

Nothing definite. Not a child, the damage was too high up. It was an adult. Probably a woman, despite that being a sexist comment, it's just the odds based on the facts. Men usually go for the confrontation when mad, and this was out of anger, judging from the way it was done.

Possibly random, possibly not. Lot of people in and out of my complex. It was done in the middle of the night naturally. Somebody that is mad at the world? They think they own the parking space I was in? ...well maybe. I have a vague suspect. That one might have merit. But impossible to know short of a confession. Somebody hates that other people have nice things? Probably the case.

Like I told the cops, I know there's nothing anyone can do unless the person is caught doing it- if it's a person doing it out of maliciousness. Funny thing is, I'm friendly with everyone here. At least two other cars have been vandalized here recently. I have told anyone I can find about it, and I have recruited one of the local kids, and that's about as good as anything I can do.

I hope so but in MA the scene is strange re: insurance. Probably it will be 'meet the new boss, same as the old boss'.

I always go right to the body shop, tell them what I want, and then they call the adjuster. I have always gotten what I wanted, including OEM parts.

And I live in MA also.

I guess its good to be the Rock-It Man. But OEM parts are simply something you are owed on a late-model car.

I go right to the body shop, tell them I want it done right and I won't accept a 'good-enough' job. It's kinda hard for me to tell them how to run their business though. I sort of have the choice to use them, or somebody else. I don't see how I can dictate how they run things.

...but I don't see how living in MA has anything to do with any of that. The insurance co is the insurance co. Telling the body shop I'm the boss and that they better do as I say doesn't make the insurance co shit or go blind.
