I have a 2011 ss and thinking of adding headers can't do long headers in Cali so short is it. Does shorty headers have any benefits over factory headers ? what would be a good setup for a good old fashion muscle car sound ?

My JBA shorties are pushing 620rwhp and running 10.7's at the track.

I say shorties are just fine.

With boost you can make a lot of power through almost anything....

Personally I would look at other items to build HP than wasting money on shorties if you can not do a long tune header on the car.

How much do you want to make?

Yeah shortys are good for what, 0-5? I'm in Kali to and would do Solo hi flows where I can take them out in 5 years at smog time, then put them back in.Good for 15-20 I hear, louder and more growl to? Unfortunately illegal to replace good cats anywhere so dont get caught

WITHOUT boost, I'm in the Top 10 Bolt-ons and Top 10 Internal Mods (and that's with cam-only).

Bolt-on, the JBA High-flow Cats and JBA Shorties, installed and tested in that order, BOTH showed significant gains at the track.

I STILL say shorties are just fine.

To Trojanman: plenty of people will try to sell you much more expensive stuff. In my Build Jornal, you can see that dollar for dollar, Shorties and High-flow Cats gain just as much as pretty much anything else. They are a GREAT first mod, easy to install, cheaper, and gains are real WITHOUT a tune.

Thanks for the feed back. I will be doing a header cat-back system maybe hi flow cats later. Now just have to find a CARB certified header and a catback system.

Shorties work.

When I had my SC installed there was another SS there that had been done prior to me that was still running stock manifolds. He had to run 10psi to make 20hp less than I did on 8psi with my shorties! He had a Corsa catback system and I still had my stock cat back system w/ muff delete only...

You are near me if ya wanna see the Doug Thorley Ceramic coated shorties...

JBA 1 3/4" are CARB certified and cost like $500. I have them on my car and I picked up 12rwhp and 15rwtq over the factory manifolds.

DT's are a nice product but they are not CARB approved in California.

You have JBA and ARH and they are both 1 3/4 and but I went with JBA for price and they fit
perfectly with the Turbonetics 50 State kit I just ordered.

im making 900hp through the stock manifold. lol. im going to get some shorties just for engine dress up, which would be best?
