Stock stall is 1600-1700 I'd say. Now imagine you could leave at 3200 instead of 1600. Higher in the power band. Good stuff.

I would say the only con to a stall is that bigger stalls usually cause more heat. Now I'm not familiar with the 4L80e, but I know that with 4th gens an aftermarket stall on a 4L60e usually requires that you get a transmission cooler so keep the temps down.
That said - John nailed it on the head. I've seen cars drop decent amount of time off their quarter mile, otherwise bone stock, just by getting a higher torque converter.

need a trans cooler regardless.
pros: it hauls ass, keeps you in your powerband, able to stall higher during launch cons: more heat, less city gas mileage, somewhat expensive

What about for those that don't like to always go Ina straight line? Any negative effects with aggressive mountain driving or road course?

You have to remember... The car will still roll out at low rpm if you aren't aggressive on the go pedal. So like normal driving is still fine. Once you give it some gas though it's going to shoot to that stall speed. Tihs is where some people complain. Not a big deal really. Once you get used to the manners, it's like driving an other car, but with a higher stall you are rolling out in your torque band.
