My Camaro lost oil pressure Saturday, unknown reason. I have my car at the dealership now but being Sunday no one was there to let know(hey fix my car now) I am hoping to make it out to Indy for the Camarofest even if it's late on Wednesday I'll be going,if not I'll wait for the next C5fest gathering.

Hope your warranty will cover it.
Was it gauge and lights or engine noises too?

Is this a common problem on 5th gens in general or does it come with modding?

Dealer will cover it. Under the 5 year power train warranty. Most likely it's the oil pump. Just had a buddy's 2010 go out. He void his warranty with a cam. The dealer wanted 1700.00 dollars to change it. A local shop offered to change it for 700.00. Really surprised me a dealer would charge this much for a 4 hour job.

There are a few threads on this issue. I feel bad for the guys that do their cams and don't replace the oil pump since they have to have it off anyway.

mpsheedy,

Sorry to hear about your loss of oil pressure. I'm happy to hear of your efforts to get the vehicle diagnosed and would like to be kept updated on that process. If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Kindly,

William R.

How bad does the oil pressure loss effect the engine? Will this happen on pretty much stock cars or just cars modded with like cam's and stuff? Is it an LS3 only problem or does it affect both L99's and LS3's? Just important info that I would like some more light shed on.

Any word on your car yet Mpsheedy?
