issues with borla cat-back
So I've had the s-type installed for several thousand miles, and it continues to develop exhaust leaks (seems to come from the slip fittings). The leak gets worse and worse (starts out as a ticking noise) and eventually gets to the point where it sounds like open exhaust. Even after tightening it up, it starts to develop the same leak after awhile.
Do you guys running s-types also have this problem? Is it just due to the use of slip fittings? Thinking about just having it welded together, once and for all...

Slip fittings do tend to leak a bit. You could try different clamps if it's that bad. I go through and check and tighten all my connections when the car is on the lift for an oil change. This has worked for me so far. Welding all the connections is your best bet if you don't like checking and tightening things occasionally. It's therapy for me though and I get to eye ball the entire underside.

The factory system uses a slip fit. You can always get them welded up to solve the problem or you might want to check into a new set of clamps.

Cool, thanks guys. Didn't know it was a common problem as none of my previous cars had these issues. Having an exhaust shop weld it up seems like the best bet.

I would have the slip fits tack welded to keep them from backing out. Normally fixes the issue. Thanks!
