for the modded crowd...how did you pay for the install.

I have a rewards cc so I'm gonna charge my cam install and tuning. Then pay it off when I get the bill. Just wondering what other people did. On a side note I normally do all my own work(diesel mechanic for national guard) but on my brand new car ill let somebody else crack open the engin since I'm blowing my warranty.

I just put down around $500 a week until I was paid up. I let the shop do it. I didn't have the time or the patience.

I've done all of my mods myself except for the cam install. Had it done by the husband of one of the original Camaro desciples. Paid cash for everything on mods.

I always have to cash on hand for any mods I have done......but use the CC, and pay it off at the end of the month.

Mine is gonna run around 1200.00 for install and dyno tuning. It includes all new fluids, gaskets, and arp bolts. The are installing cam, prc 6.75 springs w Ti retainers, trunion upgrade, push rods, melling hv oil pump, slp 25% ud, double roller tm chain and milling for it to fit properly.

That's about what I do. I have a 0% rewards card that I've been using for points.

I tried to let someone else, a "professional" *cough(Gforce in chambersburg pa) do it but in the end it's eaisier to do it yourself. The place I had originally install my motor had been featured on the cover of several magazines so I thought they did good work but unfortunately I was given a car with a leaky exhaust system, an oil leak all the way around the pan, and an incomplete totally sh*t for a tune that would blown my motor had I kept running it, and a full depth scratch on the front passenger fender. My advice: if you can do it yourself, Do it. Time or money be damned that's the only way you are going to have it the way you want it. Sure there are absolute perfectionist shops out there but they are few and far between, I wouldn't just take it to 'some shop' just to pay someone to do it, then again I have trust issues...

If you talk to a GM dealer somewhere in the 2k$ mark. If you talk to one of the mechanics at the dealer somewhere around a case of beer, and pay for the mans food. Also depends on whether you drop the car off or have the guts/time to pull the engine yourself and do the hard part for them. Oh btw prices listed are not including the cam and lifters you are purchasing
