Crazy disappointed in my new atak exhaust. Need help

Hey guys,

So I just installed the borla atak on my 10 SS LS3. I already have Texas speed long tubes, cat deletes and x pipe. Seriously, the car is QUIET. I keep ready everyone saying how loud this setup should be and seriously, mine is close to stock sounding. Wtf!?

Did you actually start it? J/K.

I've never heard this before, but everybody's definition of quiet is different.

Try disconnecting the Borla after the cats and fire her up. You might end up being like me and running straight pipes after the cat delete pipes!! I have hfcs but straight out the back after that.

I do idle out of my neighborhood as a courtesy to my neighbors, but let's say this, small children and dogs NEVER dash out in front me

Good luck brother

I've been running straight pipes for a year. I assumed it would be a little quieter than that but this is crazy. Seriously, its so quiet. It sounds like when I had headers and stock mufflera

Also, my straight pipes ended under the car by the back wheels. Maybe I just think it's so quiet because it's exiting further back? Idk, I just don't think it's anywhere near what I've heard on others and online

Ahh, now I see better... you were accustomed to the Wrath of God sound of straight pipes

Do you think the ATAK is truly as quiet as the stock mufflers, or could it be because you are so accustomed to the sound with no restrictions it is exaggerating the difference?

Are you 100% positive that there no kinds of packing material in the Borlas that might have got missed during the install. Sounds weird I know, but I heard of this before - just don't remember the brand.

I mean, yeah, it's louder than stock but it's just lacking in my opinion considering my setup. I knew it wouldnt be like my dumps but this just seems low. I just took it for a ride and it does seem to be "opening up" a bit. Even had a guy at a light compliment the volume. Idk, maybe I'm crazy

Yes, the sound will change over the next week or so as you drive it.

After that, if it NEEDS to be louder... heads and cam time

I have to presume a Borla set up does mean MUFFLERS! I'm thinking the diff from straight pipe has your ear "tuned." My all-stock exhaust is louder than it was two years ago, but it ain't no straight pipe!

I know someone who had this exact setup. The in car is really mellow and quiet on the inside. On the outside is a whole different story. Doing some pulls next to his car, made my ear ring after.

This setup is well over 115db. I'd put money on it.
