Wiring Gurus - Fog Light install gurus - Wiring in Halo fog lights with 5 pin relay?
So two years ago my dad bought me a set of BlingLight's halo fog lights for my Camaro. We're FINALLY getting around to installing them. Today we installed the fog lights into the bezels - tomorrow (Friday) is wiring.
This is for a 2012 1LS Camaro - obviously NON-RS. Instead of hard wiring the fog lights to a toggle switch, I came up with (what I believe) is a much simpler method of using a 5-pin relay with an 87 and an 87a pin (I'm not an electrical guy, so I'm probably using wrong terminology) such that by default once the car is turned on the relay switch would energize pin 87a powering the halos. Then when the side markers turn on, it would energize the relay to switch over to the 87 pin which would kill power to the halos and switch power to the fog lights. Seamless and easy, right? ![]() The first hard part -- finding a 5-pin relay at O'Reilly/Autozone/PepBoys/etc (IE: Local, without having to ship) since the counter nerds only know how to ask "What make and model vehicle is this relay for?" My dad being more familiar with his 1995 Firebird Formula knew that his cooling fan motor utilized a 5-pin relay, so we'll be able to pick up a new cooling fan motor relay from O'Reilly tomorrow. But what I do not know, though - what wire can I tap into for a 12v switched source that would be in the front bumper? My dad was thinking about doing all the wiring around the fuse box - anyone off the top of their heads know which wire I could use? I can't imagine I'm the first one to come up with the 5-pin relay method for wiring halo fog lights, so if anyone has done it before - mind sharing? I tried searching but alas even utilizing Google's search wasn't finding any good results. Thanks in advance.

Ah, and what good is a thread without pictures...
![]() the fog lights: ![]() installed in the bezel: ![]() just the halo on: ![]() just the fog light on -- the fog light is so bright it literally can be used as a heating lamp, and I did not turn or adjust the lights in the room when taking this pic. The fog light was so bright it made the rest of the picture pitch dark. ![]() bezels reinstalled into the bumper - pardon the snow, this car is my daily driver year round.

when do you want the power to come on? use a add-a-fuse.

We went through almost every single fuse in the engine fuse box and we couldn't find any fuses which were 12v switched? Every fuse we measured was constant 12v even with the car off.... Any ideas?

Thanks! I was able to find another thread where you posted about fuse #15 being switched source so we tapped into that.
Just so that people can use this if they find it -- this is how I wired my BlingLights halo fog lights. We used the 4-pin relay that came with the kit, and an additional 5-pin relay which is available at your local auto parts store under a 1995 Trans Am "cooling fan motor relay" We had to change the relay socket's wiring around a little bit, but essentially what we did is below. Fog light kit from eBay was about $100, 5-pin relay was $13, and a mini-fuse Add-a-Fuse was $7. Now my halos are on automatically, and when the sidemarkers turn on it automatically switches my fog lights on. Quick shot of the halo: Finished result - halos on (camera doesn't show the "halo ring" that well) Just the fog lights and side markers on Headlights, foglights, and side markers Wiring diagram for the 4-pin relay and 5-pin relay
