If you had the ls3 I'd say it wouldn't be as bad as he thinks but idk about the L99.
Not positive on that but just what I think

L99 and LS3's have almost IDENTICAL 0-60s and 1/4 mile times. so my L99 is FAR from a disadvantage and my car weighs about 100 pounds more than an LS3 camaro so thats not that big of a deal.

Just run him and see. My buddy kept beating my balls about running his 392Hemi against my ZL1. When it came time to do it he had twenty excuses why he had to cancel. I think he thought that i wouldn't go through with it because I haven't drag raced for a long time and his does once in awhile. I told him that I don't want to here anymore about it.
Moral of story. Call him on it. You never know you may win even stock. If so, you can still claim stock to his modded car. It's a win win for you.

good point! and i dont know why he could possibly think his 392 would be able to take your ZL1 unless he has a lot of mods you will walk away from him.

Well, he had a glory run one day when I was with him and pulled a low 12. He was banking on the fact that I haven't run for a long time. maybe he would have beat me, but I wasn't afraid to try and shut him up. He bailed though.

If I were you, I would just run him and see. Then you'll know for sure.

Good luck.

thanks! thats a fast run but the ZL1 with just a re-tune will consistently run high 11s low 12s. my uncles ZL1 runs 12 flat all the time.

LS3 will take a L99 from a roll. I think he may get you but it depends on how well he can drive. Be safe.

i guess that depends, stock for stock maybe the ls3 will get a jump on an L99 but thats very debatable for the simple fact that when both are moving the extra weight on the l99 is less apparent IMO. but we'll see ill lock it up and let u guys know.

when you are accelerating an extra 100lbs its always there...at a constant speed its not as noticeable.

its not the l99 that hurts it just being a auto from a roll. they have a disadvantage. but on a dig the auto has it. my buddy has a ls1 gto. with cam ,headers ,102 tb and intake. his car runs very well. i watched him roll up a cam only ls2 gto . but my car gets him pretty good
