What to do?

Long time hawker here...Ordered on 2/14/09. Was very patient until April or so when I start emailing the dealer on status updates. Sometime in May he tells me my TPW is 6/22/09. Send email on 6/22/09 checking on status. Dealer says good news car was built last week. Send email on 7/1/09 asking for VIN#, dealer says he doesn't have one yet...I say WTF if its built there is a VIN. He says "I hate to tell you this but its the truth". So, I am suspicious and log in to the ordering tracking thread, I'm at 3400 as of today Wouldnt be a problem, except, I turn in my leased car next week, and will have no car, AND, even if he f***ed up and told me the wrong thing, he is continuing the lie.. By the way, he knew I was trying to time the lease turn in, and although I knew I wouldnt be right on, I wanted to be close.. Question is do I call him on this or what?

Thanks in advance for any advice.
PS. Have enjoyed being addicted to this site, my husband, however, is over it!!

3400 is not built, only broadcast.

3800 will give you a VIN.

Almost there.

I know its not built yet. But why did he lie? Makes me wonder what else is in store, which is why I want to send him an email and tell him. I've waited too long and lusted after this car for too long (3 years) to give up, I'm just pissed he lied.

What model have you ordered ? There are a few popping up at dealers now. If you can get what you want elsewhere in a shorter period of time, I'd seriously consider that. Given the salesman knew of your lease situation and the amount of time you've had the car on order, you'd likely have a good argument to talk to the owner of the dealer and get your deposit back.
If you're getting an SS, they seem to be showing up the most. There's an orange SS at my dealer in Salisbury, NC - Team Chevrolet - and a few (an LT as well) at City Chevrolet in Charlotte. Team Chevy here says they've raised teh price a bit (were doing all at MSRP) so they can hold it a while for display. They could'nt keep one, as soon as one showed up, it sold, but you might be able to cut a deal with them. My sales guy is Nat.
City, from what I understand, is trying to move theirs.
Good luck, if the dealer is jerking you around, there is little confidence anything they say will be true, so your wait may be much longer. They've blown your confidence and put you in a tight spot car wise, questionable people to do business with.

If you have to just rent till you get it still probably cheaper than your lease payment.

Maybe he just got bad info from his manager. Maybe he "thought" it was built because of the TPW. Don't get too upset. Just tell him you have another avenue to get the info and maybe he could just double check his information.

We all make mistakes and no one on this forum is exempt from stretching the truth once in awhile.

Agreed about "we all make mistakes", however, when I asked for the vin and he couldnt produce, HE should have known he made a mistake(they already have 14 delivered before mine, so he knows how it works) BTW this isnt just a sales guy, he is the new vehicle manager. I'm cool with making mistakes, just own up... Its not like I was bugging the hell out of him. As for the car, I will just use my husbands, down side is I have to take him to work at 6 in the morn, and I dont usually get up that early....I can suck it up for awhile, its just disappointing that the dealer didnt correct himself...
