Windows Frozen?

Okay, this just hit me as I was scraping the side windows...

What happens when the windows get caked with ice and can't drop down under the weatherstripping? Will the window break when the door is opened? I can't recall if the surround is rigid or not.

Well, this car has been cold weather tested, and I haven't heard of any issues. And I have seen some people sware up and down that you can just go ahead an pull the door open, and it will be fine. I don't think I would do it when the window is ice cold though

Interesting you said that because the other day when I was at the dealer, I noticed that each Camaro had some condensation between the glass and the weather striping. All in the same place on the small window were it meets the big window.

Maybe that is freezing? I don't think it will break anything but over time it's got to were out the rubber seal?

If you don't have a garage you should buy one of those protable Canopies, there cheap and the keep the car out of most of the harsh weather. That's what I'm doing until I get my garage built.

Nice thing with having an A6. Auto-Start heat that car up and melt the ice.

I had to rip my door open the other day and nothing broke so I guess it's ok. But yes, I did have a slight issues closing the door as without the window rolling back up into the car the door will not completely close. But once your in you can just heat up the car and the winow will have no issue going up.

I guess I cant promise nothing will break by opening the door with the window frozen in place but it didn't when I did it.

Yea this isn't something you should do. While you won't break the glass you can very easily break the rubber or remove the rubber from the door jam (seen it happen a lot). The best solution if you don't have remote start is to take a pot of warm water (not hot water) and pour it on the rubber to melt the ice and thaw the rubber some.
