Why is my car doing this

I have a 2014 1SS and it keeps making a faint noise from the tranny as if metal was spinning but keeps hitting something. This noise is only there when I accelerate, and I can feel it when I hold on to the shift knob. I don't know too much about engines and transmissions, but what moves continuously in the transmission, that's probably making the noise. If it helps, my car did come out of gear a couple of times in 1st gear and just grind.

2014camaro,

I realize how displeasing it can be when faced with a transmission concern like this, and though you're seeking thoughts and opinions, I would be happy to communicate this situation with the designated Customer Experience Manager at your preferred. Feel free to message us privately if you'd like to proceed, or discuss this situation further.

Kindly,

I'm not an expert but it sounds like you may be releasing the clutch a bit too quick (maybe?). The grinding is from the flywheel engaging the gears when the clutch is let out. It could be a bad clutch but your car is pretty new (it is a possibility). I'd have it looked at if you arr sure you aren't mis-treating the clutch inadvertently during your shifting.

I noticed something similar in my 2011 1LT that started occurring in the last month. Whenever I start the car - let it warm up - then take off, it sounds like there is knocking inside the tranny. Sounds like something is knocking our locking up in the front and it jerks the car a bit.

Anybody have a link to what our power train warranties cover?

Is it more noticeable in lower gears could just be drive-line play. If you are completely of the gas and are engine braking (compression Braking) when you give it the gas the drive-line will go from engaged slowing the car to engaged accelerating the car and you will get a jerk and banging noise from the drive-line. I get it a lot in first in my shared driveway its down hill so its very jerky if you are going on and off the throttle and sounds like the tranny is clunking around. I think these cars were built less for refinement and more for taking a beating so at times they are bit crude but I love it.

I agree with trashmanssd,

Do not rule out driveshaft give and take. When under load it will flex. It could be hitting a heat shield also. I've had that before.

Just another thing to think about. GL.

I don't like the drive line clunking. It's embarrassing if you're crusing slowy through a parking lot with a lot of people, and they're checking you out, and your car is clunking back and forth like some kind of old clunker mobile.

Yeah it can be embarrassing sounds like you don't know how to drive stick. I find it pretty easy to start off in second and its a lot less noticeable in second gear.

depending on how hard you are on the clutch, it could be a thrust bearing...they can get noisy when they go but it would be rare for one to go so soon on a car without being hard on the clutch. im pretty sure the clutch/thrust bearing are not covered by warranty. being real hard on the clutch can also bend the clutch fork, but that would be like...rev to 5k and drop the clutch type of hard.

THIS I can relate to. Our C6 Vette has that rear differential chatter as slow speeds on a tight turn. Drives me crazy. I've performed the lube requirements and it just will not go away. Really sucks.

I've notice the clattering noise in mine as well usually when I engage the clutch I brought it up to the service folks when I went n for my first service.. they said sounds fine... but it is weird to hear the clatter when you push the clutch in...

I hate this when I am leaving the lot at work (strict 5 MPH rule) the car is lurching and the knocking... not to many people are out when I am leaving... thank goodness I've already been through the "do you even know how to drive a stick" when I first got the thing! anyhow... glad to know I am not the only one that just kind of slithers down in the seat and feels a little shy!
