Looking for opinions on a carbon fiber hood brand.
Hey guys. I'm thinking about purchasing a carbon fiber hood. I'm going to go with a OEM look 2014-2015 z28/ss hood and wanted to know if anyone has experience with Amerihood or Carbon Creations. Pretty much just want to know how the quality is of these hoods and if anyone has pictures of them installed it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

The Moreno Bros G5 Carbon is probably the best quality around, think Seibon might do their work, dont hold me to that.
Use the search feature, there are a bunch of threads around and they are a vendor here. |

SEIBON is outstanding. Quality is great, built is great, fit is great... Its got a clear coat on it, not a gel coat... helping to prevent UV damage.
I wouldn't hesitate to go SEIBON again... I'm wearing the TSII. eta pic; Last edited by Spec; 01-05-2016 at 06:45 PM. |

My hood is an Amerihood. The fitment is poor, and the hood vent isn't detachable. If given the opportunity and no wait time, I would go with G5, who are supplied by Seibon. I would think that, like most products, you get what you pay for.
Saving a few hundred dollars isn't worth feeling like your car is halfassed, in my opinion, unless the quality of that particular part isn't important to you. For example, I plan on Hydrodipping my upper grill, lower grill, and foglight bezels, since it's not worth 2k to me to have real carbon fiber in those places, but I still want the look.

I'd like to amend my statement and say that the fitment issues are very minor, however I would much have preferred for there to be no issues.
The hood is about 1/4" shorter than the previous hood (but is an SS hood vs. The v6 hood that I had before), and left a small gap in the front that I had to hide with a weather strip laid under the gap. Also, it seemed to be slightly warped as the passenger side mount was about 1/4" lower than the driver side. Is it worth a $500 difference in price to not have experienced these? Maybe.
