Possible development over site PLEASE READ
So I was installing my heritage grille and noticed rub marks on the collar on the front springs. Front tire rub. Not constant. But when they are at compression. Please check your cars and see if it is on yours as well

When the spring compresses only the section from where your finger is upward changes. From the spring down to the hub assy it is solid and the distance between the tire and that area (lower spring perch) should not change unless something is very wrong. (bad wheel bearing, loose ball joints, loose bolts between knuckle assy and lower strut, loose wheel...etc) Basically there is no way that should make contact unless something is broken.
That looks like wear from debris being thrown up from the tire to the lower perch effectively "sand blasting" that area.....Do you drive on dirt or gravel roads with the car?

Disk brake first gens are notorious for tire rub on the sub-frame at full steering lock. Usually anywhere you have tire rub you'll see bare, shiny metal with all paint/rust rubbed off. You're OK!
EDIT: Looks like third gen 'vettes do it also. |

I think that might be from the rocks that stick to the tires then come off as you speed up. It doesn't look like a rub to me. Plus I would think you would hear that or feel it in the steering if it was rubbing.

Yeah, I don't see anything rubbing. I see some paint missing from debris being thrown off of the tires. No worries.

I see chipped up metal that began to corrode.

Luse4: It's probably different between normal SS and 1LEs due to the wider tire width and different suspension setup

I am not sure what you are trying to tell me, but there is no rubbing there.

You got to be kidding me!..Thought I had left that problem when I traded my'06 GTO in on the Camaro..... as with driveshaft problems as well. Hope this isn't the case. It was the collapsing of the upper strut mount/bearings that was causing this if I remember correctly.
