Passing Smog?

I've tried to do some research on headers. Everyone says that long tubes net the most horsepower, sound the best, and tend to be better overall. However, long tubes can't pass a smog test? I live in Tennessee. I just got my car tested not long ago... But I still would like to be able to pass a smog test.

Basically I'm EVENTUALLY wanting headers and a cam to go along with my intake and catback. The car is my daily, but I enjoy the extra horsepower (don't we all)... especially to destroy all of the mustangs around here... (at the track of course... )

Would something like this pass emissions?

http://ohio-speed.com/p-4327-2010-20...s-ca2shwc.aspx

Or are long tubes completely out of the question?

Maybe I haven't read enough into it yet.. But any help is appreciated!

Idk the laws in TN but here in TX anything flies as long as you don't have a CEL.

I'm not EXACTLY sure what passes, but everyone tells me we don't have strict emission laws around here... After all, it is TENNESSEE... home of diesel truck nuts... 'merica!

Depends on which type of emission test they do.

If they do the sniffer test where they hook up a sensor to the tail pipe, lt headers and hi-flo cats will not pass this test.

If they do the code test where they hook the car up to the computer, lt headers and hi-flo cats can pass this test with a proper tune.

I BELIEVE they just hook up to the computer. I don't believe they've ever hooked a sensor up to the tailpipe... Unless I just really wasn't paying attention.

I just had my SUV in my mechanics shop yesterday. He did an emission test on my camaro last dec when I bought it. Since then I've had jba shorty headers ..solo hi flow cats..muffler delete....vmax throttlebody installed. I don't need another emission test here till the car is more then 7 years old. They are strict, so I asked him straight up about passing emissions with my mods. He told me he doesn't care about anything on the car as long as there is no codes ..or codes that have been tuned out. He also said it must have cats of some kind as well.

Headers and hi flow cats with a proper tune will pass sniffer tests. With the new tune the emissions is within acceptable perimeters.
