Would this warrant a replacement top?

Here's some pics of my parents 2011 convertible. This month it's two years old and has approx 25K miles so it should still be under warranty. It is now just getting a tear in the top and the stitching is pulling apart on the driver's side rear. Until now it's just been abnormal wear issues. There have been zero leaks though so it could've been worse.

Take a look and tell me if these wear marks would warrant a new top. Thanks in advance for any help in getting this resolved.

Heck yeah, get your butt in there... you're getting close to the end of the road with your warranty and you have nothing to lose by trying.

Did you need to do yours? If so how'd it come out? I know there's a service bulletin out, I guess this would qualify for that. Thanks

Top looks terrible for such a nice car. Take it to them and replace ASAP. Yes warranty!!!

You do have a valid case for a top replacement because of the developing holes and frayed stitching.

Does this car have the top down most of the time? Much of that looks like stains/mildew.

You might want to try using a horse hair brush (Adam's polishes sells them) and gently scrub the stains out before you take it to the dealer. Otherwise they may take the attitude that the top has been abused.

It may look like stains but those are rub marks. If you rub your hands over the top you feel the cloth, then you feel the smooth rub marks if that makes sense. Trust me, this car is hand washed regularly. In person it wouldn't be mistaken for mildew or stains. It's warn down fabric. You can see the patterns of the wear marks in the last two photos.

NJIOMSS,

I would definitely advise that the Camaro is taken to a certified Chevrolet dealer for an official diagnosis of the convertible top concerns. We are also here for additional assistance in case it's needed. Feel free to contact us privately with any further questions.

Sincerely,

William R.

Definitely has rub marks and a hole. Your parents look to be putting the top down while it's wet. Looks like some mildew stains as well.
Get to a reputable dealer in your area, that is familiar with the convertible top replacement procedure. If they haven't done several already, don't allow yourself to be their first!

If those are all rub marks then get into a good dealership ASAP.

Lol. I guess if you guys think that's all mildew it really is that bad!!! If you can't tell by all of the uniform designs, those are ALL rub marks from using the top. Zero mildew or stains on this top. It looks like that just from using it I assure you.

I'll go in with my father on my next day off. I know someone who works at a local GM service center and he said they've done a handful of these for warranty before, but they send them out for the repair to another location. I'll get more details on that when we take it in and I'll update this thread. Thanks for the input so far. Keep the advice coming

Yes, total warranty issue, go get it fixed! They may even extend the warranty after the fix. Make sure the fix works and fits correctly before taking receipt of repair.

There are tons of threads on this and GM is well aware of it so stick to your guns.

PM'd you William. Thanks

Thanks not. Yea I picked up a few ideas from this forum to try out on the vehicle once the top is replaced and before we take it home from the dealer. I've seen other forum members run a hose on the top to ensure the drainage system is working properly on the new top and other stuff like checking for pieces of metal from pop rivets inside and outside of the vehicle. Stuff like that.

You know I think I have the same marks, they just don't stand out as much on a tan top. Until I have a leak there's no way I'm taking mine in. Too many horror stories on here.
