525-550 hp
Looking to make 525-550 hp (crank) without forced induction. I have been searching through a lot of threads and still not sure which way to go. Those of you who are making this kind of power please let me know what combination of parts you used and how it performs as a daily driver. I have a 2011 2ss/rs with the M6 trans. I'd like some lope to the idle but nothing to wild. I figure cai, headers and cam but what else? Ported heads? Ported TBI? Must be something the wife can drive...
(afterall this will be her car when I get my ZL1)!!!

You can easily achieve that with bolt ons and a cam since you're talking crank hp.

^^^This
Full bolt-ons, cam (full kit with oil pump, header internals) and a proper tune should put you at 470-490whp. That should put you over your crank hp amount. Without a cam, your crank hp should be close (500-510). Again, most don't care about crank hp numbers. What really matters is your usable hp and how efficiently you use that. I put my crank hp on my hood only because I got tired of ppl asking me every time I fill up or park somewhere. |

Call around and find out who you have available as a performance shop, tell them your goals and they should set you up with what you desire. P.s a lot of good shop you might wanna consider if near you that can give you options and meet your goals and of course your wife's comfort lol

I put crank HP on my showboard. Everyone always asks and mimics the GM "400hp or 426hp" which is crank so figured why not. If someone wants to know what it has at the wheels, they can ask and I'll tell them but to the general public, crank HP it is

Very easy to achive with a cam. I have a very mild 217/228 110 lsa cam, mine makes at lest 525 with headers, intake, and a 3" H pipe exhaust. It sounds insain and should trap 118-119 easy next time I run it. You don't need a huge cam to make power or have a nice lope, my car drive like stock with the m6 when I still had the manual.

cam is a individual choice I have the most radical a TSP cam the best they grind and yes its awesome, but cam surge with a manual is something to learn and how it changes when you go into what gear and such, like now I rev to about 1800 rpm to ease into 1st, I used to just go like 1200? now I do not go down way low with fourth down to 20-25 more like 35 is pushing it for surge, and I actually use third more as I used to skip it a lot, and just want to be above about 1500 rpm moving or have the clutch pressed in to avoid cam surge. With a automatic the cam I have would require about a 3000 rpm torque converter and be much more what people call streetable yet to me is just right as I am a old motorhead not a kid. p.s. my crank h.p. would be around 550? as the formulation calculators I have used online are very liberal and say more like 560 with a manual.
