Best LFX exhaust system performance and

After A LONG TIME of searching and a lot of patience, I'm going to drop the cash and grab a new 3.6L Camaro...can't wait to take delivery!

I know there is a lot of discussion/debate regarding what the best exhaust system is and a lot of it is based on personal preference regarding brand and exhaust note.

I've heard that the closer to the cats you get, the closer you get to voiding warranty and a lot depends on how the dealer views the modification itself and that varies from dealer to dealer. I spoke to a dealer in the area and they said that there was a GMPP cat back exhaust (i'm assuming that it's the system manufactured by Borla for GM) that wouldn't void any warranty.

I understand that full cat back systems provide better flow over axle back systems, and as a result they perform better.

I've got two questions...

1.) What bolt on system provides the best flow/performance gain for the money?

2.) What kind of flack/issues did you receive from the dealer regarding warranty?

Thanks for the input!

1) you wont make more than maybe 4, to 5 wheel HP on a catback..

2) an exhaust cannot void your powertrain warranty, unless they can prove it caused the issue you're having...

i work for an infiniti dealership, we don't care if you put an exhaust on your car, especially if its a catback/axelback. if you remove the cats, thats a different story.

happy modding!

if your worried about warranties, stay away from tunes, and welcome things like a well built intake, an exhaust, ported TB.

The best bolt-on exhaust is.................

MRT V2 with added J-Pipes to kill drone.

Of course a catback system would be considered a bolt-on, so.............

Solo Performance catback system with their j-pipe solution.

Or maybe Stainless Works Chambered catback system.

I guess what's the best is what sounds the best to you. Good luck modding.

Thanks Anthony & Big Red!

So, if i'm understanding what you're saying correctly, stick with a quality cat back system and focus on the mufflers to alter the tone/sound??

MRT 2.0 with Magnaflow X-pipe + J-pipes or Solo system with integrated J-pipes.

Phew that was a hard search...

The biggest performance gain you will see is the weight savings from losing those heavy trash can mufflers

Thanks Meissen! I have been looking at intakes ans had decided that the CAI inc system was the one for me.

WhiteLS...thanks for forwarding that link to the exhaust thread. I had stumbled on that a few weeks ago and couldn't find it again. I'll probably be up past midnight tonightlistening to the links on that thread. Lol

A friend of mine was telling me that I should try and find out if there are road tests on some if the exhaust systems to validate performance claims. I had seen somethkng on the MBRP cat back system producing something like an ADDITIONAL ESTIMATED 15 hp & 25 ft lb...

You are not going to gain much from an exhaust system on these cars, so ignore the claims and know basically anything you do down-stream of the cats will be purely for sound.

In my opinion, the MRT V 2.0 or the V 1.0 coupled with the Magnaflow resonated X pipe is the ticket. The V6 can be hard to get to sound good, but these are the best options I have found.

Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

not trying to thread jack but on a scale of 1-10, 10 being absolute screaming obnoxious, how loud is your muffler delete with the x pipe? I'm thinking of doing this but am worried the muffler delete might be too much

its not that loud unless you really get on it. there is no rasp so it is not really obnoxious.

here is a better video to judge that.
