L99 launch
Just wanted to ask you L99 owners what way you are finding your car launches fastest? Everything on? tc off? stabile track comp mode? everything off?

I've found no difference in ANY of them. I get consistant times within .1 just about every time I run. And changing the config. hasn't made a difference. Just make sure it's in sport mode.

turn all of that stuff off
I have a 2 ss and when it was stock it left best with taction control off, hold the break and build up on it a little,to about 1500 rpms and then let of the break and nail it.I now have a 3600 precision industries converter in mine and a cold air intake and tuned by carolina auto masters and have ran a best of 8.10 at 86 mph in the 1/8th mile and that is just rolling out on a street tire, with a 1.78 short time.

TC on/Stab Off
Our local track isn't usually prepped well and the car won't hook up off the line without the traction control on but it kills the overall 1/4 times mainly due to short times (never better than 2.05 so far). At Bradenton I can launch much harder and would keep everything off there - the car has good weight transfer and if you can get it moving before the tires spin it will hook up. Best thing to do is go find out how your car works were you will be running it.

I have LT headers and New Era intake. When I turn everything off I get too much wheel spin. I did not get a chance to try leaving TC on. I will try other combos this weekend. This leads me to another question. Why a stall 3600 on a L99? The torque curve is flat with the VVT. What do you gain by increasing the RPMs at launch? I am already having wheel spin problems with stock tires. Maybe if I had racing slicks but if the torque curve is flat what is the advantage?

Yes. Very simple. Put it in 'M' and do not use the paddle shifters. That's sport mode. If you use the paddles it's Manual mode.

WE JUST CAME BACK THREE HOURS AGO FROM IRWINDALE SPEED WAY IN LA CA.
MY BUD HAS A 2010 2SS RS WITH AUTO TRANS. FIRST OFF LET ME TELL YOUS GM MESS UP WITH THIS TRANNY WAY TOO MANY OPTIONS TO PUT THIS DAMN THING IN DRIVE. WE RAN IT WITH TRACKTION CONTROLL ON USING M & D BEST TIME WAS 9.5 1/8 MILE. THEN WE RAN IT AGAIN WITH COMP MODE ON USING M & D BEST TIME WAS 9.25 1/8 MILE. THEN WE RAN IT AGAIN WITH THE TRACKTION CONTROLL OFF AND WE JUST KEPT SPINING AND SPINING WE RAN 10.6 I SWEAR I KNOW THAT SOUNDS CRAZY FOR 1/8 MILE BUT WE SPUN TOO MUCH. after all this testing we found out that if you hold the button down for 5 second you can drive it in comp mode as well as the tracktion controll off so instead of choosing one you can drive it with both modes. CAN SOMBODY TELL ME WHAT GM WAS THINKING DOING THIS ! |

I know a lot of you speak about getting you car tuned. Of course I know you got your motor tuned but have you got your transmission tuned is the question?
Give the stock A6 a Tune and its a totally different animal. " trust me " A buddy of mine has done this with his A6 Vette and wow he actually has a little hotter tune to the trans than the motor. im just waiting to get some miles on my car then the longtubes , Torque converter and Cai and both tunes go on. |

My L99 A6 is tuned and it drives like a completely different car. It's amazing. The extra HP and TQ helps, but its the transmission tune that really makes the car perform. |

You guys are RIGHT ON about the tune. I drove one a couple weeks ago. Couldn't believe it...
Now to keep on track with the OP ---Competition mode is best (Tap Twice to remove stabiliatrack). Leave traction control on (you may need it). ---Shifter in M... NO tapshift I guess that's why they call it Comeptition Mode...
