2011 Camaro SS accident

I've seen other photots here of accidents and always thought "wow, that sucks" Well its our turn...

What turned out to be a nice Saturday at home turned into a mess. My wife was backing out of our driveway. We live on a street with a 25mph speed limit but everyone flies down the street. she looked both ways like she always does and backed out. WHAM! , she gets hit by a little old lady in a beat up Ford Escort and drags my wifes car out of the end of the driveway and down the street a few feet.

You can see the damage. Its like the rear bumper cap was stripped off. All of the wiring is intact and still works amazingly. The lines on the car seem ok, doors close correctly, even the trunk lid closes correctly. I now need to find a place to take it locally. Our insurance company has a few places but i wouldn't take that ladys Ford Escort to some of them....

Luckily the Charger was in the driveway and not parked on the street, otherwise it would have been hit too...

Hopefully she will back in our hands shortly. What a process to go through...

That looks like it took a pretty good wack and will cost more than you'd think to fix. Did a side air bag deploy? We lost our CX5 last month--it was totaled in a 30 mph side collision. Over $14K in damage.

Keep your fingers crossed that the insurance comp. totals it then invest in a 2014.

No air bag deployment. I honestly don't know how hard a hit it was, but it moved the car. I told my wife it was a good excuse to buy a new Corvette...

I have to say the photos look worse then the car too, its like you pulled the rear cap off. but there is a spot where the other cars headlight hit our car to strip off the bumper.

I don't think that is anywhere near being totaled, looks like the trunk lid is bent next to the right tail light opening.

yeah, not air bag deployment significantly reduces the probability of the vehicle being totaled. We had four of them go off at 30 mph in our Mazda. Apparently, air bags are expensive to replace.

Somebody smacks me they better have a good excuse like being in labor or having a heart attack.

That sucks. Really hate it for you. Good luck on getting back to normal.

you must be new here, the camaro doesn't have blind spots, you just have to adjust the mirrors properly

I'm sorry for your loss, hopefully the insurance agency doesn't put a salvaged title on the car like they usually do.

Most cars will not deploy air bags if you are going under 35 MPH.
