Wondering whats in store for MY 16

Hi, with the announcement of the CTS/V getting the LT-4, and since the ZL-1 had gotten the same engine as the V, I am wondering what may be in store for the 16. It was said that they wanted to go large displacement naturally asperated with the Z06 but couldn't make it EPA friendly.
With that being said, do you think that maybe the Z/28 will get the LT-4 aqnd the ZL-1 get a detuned version with the 580HP or similar HP numbers?
I don't know how else they may make the Z/28 the track star without giving it more HP than the ZL-1. Anyone have any insight or rumors that they have heard? I am keeping my ZL-1 but probaly get a 6th gen. 1-LE if that is going to be offered when the Z is paid off in 2017.

If they follow the C7 pattern, they will introduce a Z/28 with the LT4, Mag ride and convertible option. Then a track package to get the serious bits.

My hope is the group that fought for the Z/28 name in gen5 does the same again. Introduce a ZL1 with LT4 and a Z/28 with a ~500 HP, NA LT version. The GT350's FPC, NA engine almost mandates this approach.

The Z/28 being a track car won't be a convertible

GM has been tight lipped on the upcoming 6th gen. We might not see both the ZL1 and Z/28., they may do something similar like the C7 ZO6 where performance is somewhere in between. I'm sure they will keep the 1LE, not so sure on the ZL1. Just my opinion.

They will put the LT4 in the top Camaro, it's easy to do all ready have it certified and it will have the same HP as the CTS-V.

My guess:
2016:
v4 Model 2.0L i4 with eAssist, 260hp with option for 325hp
V6 Models - might be a 3.6L LGX V6
Base V8 with LT1, 440hp

2017
v8 Track Pack ala 1LE - mostly suspension tweaks, be nice if there was a magride option and more aggressive cam/heads for slightly more hp (~475-490)

2018
Z/28 - option with LT4 (they went supercharged in C7 Z06 so my guess is same thing for the top Camaro), staggering later makes sense that way they don't cannibalize the C7 Z06 sales too much since anyone that had to have an Lt4 already bought it. Maybe they call the Z/28 a ZL1 given the normally aspirated history of the Z/28 but they broke that rule with the Z06 so my guess is it gets broken again.

No sense in having both a ZL1 and a Z/28 as they don't have two different high hp V8 options anymore (only LT4 and LT1 and no announced new versions in the pipeline)

IMO the Z/28 will be dropped from the line up. The ZL1 will remain top dog with the LT4 ... The rest of the line up will be the same, with the addition of a 2.0t and V6TT as options.

It would be interesting if GM offered another COPO Camaro. One for the Road Track. Offer another 69 of these. Then Camaro would be represented at the Drag Strip and Road Course. Since this would not be street legal, racing only, EPA regs would not apply and thsy could go Large Displacement, Naturally Asperated.

If the focus will be handling I see the ZL1 being dropped for the Z28.

For me, unless they knock it out of the park in looks and the LT4 proves to be mod friendly without replacing the blower, I'll stick with my ZL1. A 70 HP increase isn't enough to swing me...especially since the LSA and drive train have proven they can take a whole lot more.

Whatever it is let's hope we see some major incentives to get the 5th Gen off the lots again. Especially since I won't be able to take advantage of the current 20% off deal 8)

When I was at a dealer here in my state the sales manager was saying the new platform wont contain a v-8....said the new platform is small, I believe he said something like "the small frame cant hold a v-8". Cadillac has a ats-v or something (smaller of the two upcoming models) which is only a turbo 6 cylinder and he said to expect the same for the Camaro as they are on the same frame....I shrugged it off, but who knows!
