Exhaust pop

Hello all! Question, I did the fuse pull on my camaro recently and noticed a lot of popping coming from the exhaust when shifting down and up in gears. From what I recall in my younger mechanic days, this is due to an increase in airflow to the engine correct? When I pulled the fuse my car was stock. I recently added a CAI and the popping is not as bad but its still there. All in all, this doesn't really bother me too much, I just want to know if it may have any negative effect to the engine. Sorry for being such a noob.

Very very noob question BUT the pop is supposed to happen and one of the best things about changing anything with your exhaust. I assume you have the dual mode and the flaps are open all the time. Pulling the fuse will make it louder and now that they are always open you will hear the popping now that restriction is less. Enjoy it

Ok, I kind of thought that but after hearing things about blow back and what not, I wasn't too sure. Guess I just need to brush up on my terminology. What are they referring too when they talk about blow back?

What you are hearing is decel pop and it's completely normal (kinda cool too).

When you do the fuse pull the main thing that happens is you introduce deceleration pop and you'll get a little drone at certain RPMs on the highway. For about 20 bucks on Amazon you can wire a remote key fob to open/close the flap fuse when ever you want.

In most cars, it's not actually a good sign.

In our cars, it's most likely a momentary rich condition caused by sudden 'jump off the gas' and in which unburned fuel mix gets out on the exhaust stroke and detonates in the exhaust, and is therefore sorta par for the course and normal.
