Typically, a good multi chambered muffler design should do the trick.

Yours is a single chamber, more remincent of a straight through I think.

+1 hi-flo cats as well.

Muffler placement towards middle of chassis (if this were possible on Gen5), would change the acoustics towards more of what you seek as well.

It all adds up.

I was running OEM muffler/resonator deletes with a single magnaflow X-pipe muffler right where the OEM resonator was. Straight pipes to the back. This weekend I installed LT headers and it still has that deep rumble. When my wife first heard it she said "it sounds the same" BUT when you get on it at WOT throttle it really sounds "loud and sorta raspy" but in general at 3/4 acceleration it still sounds deep like a muscle car should.

There are 2 sizes....get the smaller one to give you a deep tone without losing volume.

I'd love to see Magnaflow come up with a couple more options here...
1) A resonated H-Pipe for those of us who like the deeper rumble
2) A slightly louder version of their resonated X. I think they could easily do this by just drilling fewer holes in the X that's inside the resonator (see pic above)

Then we'd have some options for volume levels. We really lack a good option that gets rid of the rasp completely but yet leaves a bit of rumble and volume.

Id swap the flow master 10...those things are raspy as hell. I had my g8 with headers.cam.offroad pipe.10 series and it sucked. Id suggest the bullet mufflers from dynomax, which I did. Heres mine...
