Has anyone tried just removing the resonators?
I am looking for an axle back. Has anyone removed the resonators and kept their stock mufflers? I was told removing the resonators will not cause a CEL as they are there just to control tone coming out of the mufflers.
Thanks, Bob |

I didn't think the M6 cars have the same resonator setup that our L99 has.
But it should improve the sound a bit. |

I think you are right. I have heard that too. I think the L99 has a different setup for resonators than the LS3. But I am pretty sure there are resonators on my LS3 (although I have not been under there in awhile to confirm this).

Only NPP does not have resonators on a SS. The ZL1 and Z28 exhaust do not have them either.

I deleted the resonators when I got the X-pipe installed. No check engine light. Very little change in the tone.. But noticeable. Not sure what It'll sound like with the factory H-pipe but i get compliments on just the tone with axle backs only.

So by adding an X pipe do you reduce the loss of back pressure? I did find out that deleting the resonators and replacing them with straight pipes creates back pressure loss and loss of performance.

The X-pipe balances both sides of the cylinder banks. The factory H bounces off each other making back pressure. In-turn the X will lose a little low end but pull harder in the upper rpms. The H is better for low end thus creating back pressure. IMO getting rid of the H is by far better. Yes you lose back pressure but you'll feel the gains up top.
