Hood for a 2013 SS

I recently bought my first Camaro, a 2013 2SS RS. I would like to change the hood on it to the vented hood I see on the 14 and 15's. I asked my local dealer how much that would be they told me it's alittle over $5,000. they said it was 900 for the hood and 4300 for the carbon fiber insert. Does this sound right and has any one done this.

They must have quoted you the ZL1 hood. The SS hood vent isn't carbon fiber and is around $100.

It would be cheaper and look nicer if you only bought the insert for about $100 and installed it yourself. If you buy a 14-15 hood and insert you'll be buying a hood that doesn't line up exactly with the 10-13 fascias and it will need to be painted.
Just cut a hole in the hood for the insert, people have done that on their 10-13s. The little wrinkle you see on your fascia/bumper matches the cowl of the hood, the 14-15 hood is wider and I think a bit lower.
