Carbon Fiber Clear Coat Peeling
Just picked up a 2012 Ashen Grey ZL1 w/ 2400 miles. I noticed some of the clear is coming off the exposed carbon fiber. Saw a couple of mentions of people getting it fixed with warrantee. How common is this and how hard has it been to get it done? Thanks!

Welcome to club good choice on ZL-1.
Mine was replaced under warranty but it took 4 months. I recommend getting with the dealer and get process started. The CF piece is very expensive so the dealer is going balk at replacing it. I told my dealer the part was delaminating* and they had no idea what that meant. Hope this help * http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delamination

Yeah. Tell them bubbles and delaminating. Go to a second dealer and tell them the other dealer in town couldn't help you and had to wait for the gm regional service manager. Then the get competitive.

And when you get it fixed take care of it. Carbon fiber is expensive and needs wax to protect it from the UV.
I've had plenty of older cars and none of them have had any paint pealing or oxidizing. Just takes a little effort to keep looking great. |

Update : Dealer installed new hood scoop Tuesday. Had 0 trouble getting it taken care of. Not even an ounce of hesitation on their part.

If you want to keep it protected use this. Put it on your entire car it's truly exceptional.
