Track Report

No photos or video and the transponder battery failed during my CT race so no lap time. The car just destroys everything except open wheel cars. Really got a feel for it and drove all day in PTM 5. What a joy, like a big Miata. You feel it losing traction and make appropriate adjustment, no big deal. The throttle is so linear, if you calm down and drive with sensitivity it's very rewarding and no drama at all.

I thrashed it mercilessly and oil temps never crossed 280 and it ran flawlessly. Most of the time I only shifted between 3rd-4th while on track. Torque FTMFW.

"Worst" part of the day- all the people who want to come over and talk to you about the car. "Is it really all they say it is?" Oh hell yes...

PS- so neutral everywhere, turn-in, mid corner, exit, and very settled under braking. GT3 for example squirms around like an angry cat when threshold braking from high speed, the Z/28 just hauls down and then rotates as you remove some brake and add steering. Such a joy to drive. Amazing job on tuning the suspension.

If you are a tracker, you've got to own one of these.

That is all, carry on.

PS- I'll add that as I put in more laps, became more comfortable and speeds increased, I could really feel the aero acting on the car. Very settled and confidence inspiring in the high-speed turns and transitions. Definitely the more seat time I put in, the lower the lap times will go.

Awesome!! Great job, sucks about the lap times though!! Does the Z/28 have the lap counter in the DIC like the 1LE does? I used that when I was at Sonoma and it works ok.
What track did you race at? Any pics of vids? You're killing me smalls!!

It does have the lap timer and I was excited to try it out but the reality (as I suspected) is that if you are driving 9/10's or so it's friggen impossible to focus/remember to manually trigger the damn thing every lap. So it is there and it does work but an automatically triggered timer via GPS or a S/F beacon is the only way to go.

I made the trip back out to my local track, Reno-Fernley, with the intention to find a line that was drivable (to miss the GD, MFing, bumps and torn up pavement). It's a track I know very well and held the fastest time trial laps on every config there a couple years ago.

No pics or vids except of the dirty car with TrakTape on it if you want one of those? Lol... My intention was solely to go out there to muck around and have fun with my friends and not even run for time...but I can never seem to resist

Such a great track day car.
