I NEED SOME HELP

From early 2012 Z owners. There was a post on here either from a
moderator or GM rep that posted a TSB about the SC coupler rattle
being a normal sound coming from the SC area. I remember reading this post, but I can't seem to find it.
If anyone knows where it is or can find it I sure would appreciate it.
My Z was rattling at that time and because GM said it was normal I modded my car not worring about it.
Now that they have decided it is not normal and my car is modded they have denied replacement for it.
I am trying to find as much info as I can to see if I can pursuade them to
replace it anyway.

Thanks in advance

There is a more recent bulletin that came out this summer. They apparently loosened up on replacements. Call your local dealer back and ask them about the most recent bulletin. It's here if you search for it.

I looked for that post myself because I got a little cross with the GM guy. I think it got deleted. You really just need the spring loaded isolator replaced. Probably not the entire supercharger. If the dealership won't do it find a good tuner and get the upper pulley upgraded at the same time. It is a fairly easy fix.

Straight from the horses mouth. I don't believe there was a TSB.

Yeah, that post was copied and pasted on the camaro5 forum in a thread and I posted my own personal observations having had 2 superchargers replaced at that time and found the engineering observations were not in line with my own personal observations or recommendations and I got flamed pretty hard. Then when Gm changed the tune and decided to offer the same upgrades that some of us were recommending from the beginning I tried to find it... to no avail....I think a moderator got rid of it.

I would just replace the isolator with a coupler myself and skip the dealer hacks touching my car but that is me.

The current GM bulletin is TSB 13313 on supercharger rattle. The supercharge should be covered as long as you have not changed the pulley. Or at least that's what I was told when I inquired about it.

And that's not what this thread is about.
For years, GM held the stance that the rattle was "normal" and would not contribute to further issues. That's when Ed Piatek started posting on a few different forums, and what I linked to above.
Now, they've changed their stance and the OP is SOL because of it.

All this I already know. Thats why I polled the early Z owners, there was a
post on here from GM reps stating that the spring isolator making the rattling,
marbling sound was normal and did not pose a problem with the
SC's opperation. I am searching for that post. Yes I have changed the lower pulley,
but the SC is totally stock. This does not matter to GM because they found a non oem
calibration they will not replace my supercharger regardless of any TSB's. Because
they said it was normalI modded my car not worring about the rattling it was doing,
and appearently now it's a problem. Anyway I'm not sure I would change it
anyway. The replacement seems to have it's own set of problems along
with a 40% life reduction ( according to the CTS V forum ). I have searched on the V's
forum and elsewhere for bearing failure due to the spring isolator and can't find one single
case thats directly related to it.
I did find that Land Rover is swithcing from the solid coupler to the spring
due to premature failure.

Post number 4 on this thread has a link to the exact information that was on this forum somewhere at some time. Like I said, I looked real hard for it when GM changed official position....disappeared. I would and did change the isolator out of my own pocket. That sping isolator is wearing a huge groove in the upper pulley shaft. If the bearings in the upper wear out they can be replaced. It is really not that big a deal as long as you don't take the blower into the dealership. I know it is hard for some people to fathom this concept but the absolute best mechanics you can find for a stock ZL1 are not necessarily working at the car dealership. Or you can let it knock.....
