Key Programming

I was over at my dealership today with a couple of my friends because they are ordering 1LE's also, and my salesman gave me a switchblade style key. He said I had to get it programmed, but couldn't tell anybody that I got it from him. So now I'm trying to figure out where I it programmed at. Any ideas? Thanks.

Start your car with your old key then shut off and try starting it with the new key.

Put your original key in the ignition and turn the key till all the lights come on the dash (without starting the car). Turn original key off and remove. Insert new key and turn to same position, when all dash lights come on, and wait about 10 seconds or so. Should tell you the key is now programmed. I had a couple keys where it displayed it had programmed and one that did not show it. But all my programmed keys work perfectly.

I purchased two switchblade keys off eBay and took them in for the "recall". Guy at the counter had no idea about the recall and cut the keys and gave them back to me, no charge. So now I have like 4 switchblade keys for my car. They are lying all over my house, geeesh.

How many new keys did you program? How many original keys do you have and did you have to use each original key to program each new one (ie. did you put each original key into the ON position before you put in each new key)?

I have programmed 4 new keys. I had two original keys. One original key and one new key were lost (I will not mention "her" name that lost them..lol). She says they are still in the house. So now I have one original and a few new programmed. I did put the original key in the ignition before coding the new one. I could have easily put one of the coded ones in and programmed off of it. Does NOT require an original key to program the others.

It looks like the switchblade key is cut differently and will not turn in the ignition. Am I SOL or can I do something to fix it?

key should have been cut specifically for your car, based on your VIN. If it was cut wrong by the dealer, you will need another key.

key can be cut based on your VIN, or by one of your current keys (as a template).

These keys are a one time program, so you cannot buy a used one, has to be new un- programmed FOB.
