Back Pressure question

So I'm running stock headers, stock cats, and no mufflers, f8 fuse pull. My drivers side cat let go this morning and is now fluttering. I took it to the dealer and they said because of having no back pressure because no mufflers that it caused the cat to fail. So no warranty. Are they right? I was also just gonna get catless jba midpipes. Is back pressure an issue. Car will get tuned to delete cel and adjust for exhaust flow at low end.

I do not believe having less back pressure would make a cat fail. I think the dealer is just full of it.

All you did was pull the fuse? First of all I wouldn't have volunteered that info to them. Second, no way in hell did that cause the failure. Third, cats are covered under federally mandated warranty to 80K miles. Take it to another dealer. They are required to cover it.

The exhaust is designed to open up at the highest exhaust pressures...thus reducing back pressure by design. Your dealer is an idiot.

I wouldn't expect a muffler delete to void the warranty on the cats?

The cats should be covered under the emission warranty. When the dealer tells you crap like that, ask them to show it to you in print. They won't be able to.

i didn't think that a muffler removal would cause the cats to fail at all. So my question is. Do I get JBA catless mids, or catted midpipes. I have no emission testing where I live so that isn't the issue. The issue is gonna be backpressure and or frying the exhaust valves. Input?

Backpressure is not an issue.
Go catless if that's what you want.

How would no back pressue cause you to fry an exhaust valve?
