Best Brake Pads?
I am curious what everyone's preference is on brake pads. I realise that many different brake pads have different applicaitons.
I do not autocross or drag my car, its never been to a track, nor do I plan on making it a regular track car. However, I am a very spirited driver, and it doesn't help to have over 600rwhp without good brakes...so I am curious what you guys think? Thanks

Well in your case I can't make a recommendation for a "good" pad but I can tell you a few that likely will not work for you if that is at all helpful.
I recently tried Carbotech 1521s (commonly just called "Bobcats"), while these have great street manners they were not even as aggressive as the OEM pads, so these will not work for you. On the other end of the spectrum I have had Porterfield R-4 pads and currently have Raybestos ST43, either of these is going to be way too loud for your liking and are going to wear too quickly and dust etc... Of the two the ST43 is the better pad, things are INSANE. The only other pad I have tried in the SS are the OEM pads. I have to say after going around the brake pad "globe", the stock pads are hard to beat!

This seems to be the consensus for those of us who don't track the car.

I'm running Hawk HPS pads and I drive hard on the track and "sprinted" driving on canyon roads.
No complaints here.

A friend of mine recently put Hawk HPS+ pads all around on his '94 RX7. Not apples to apples the FD and SS but he does really like them, he drives hard but does not track the car.

"best" is subjective, as stated, depending on what you expect out of them. I have the Hawk HPS and love them. Less brake dust and do a good job stopping on the 1/4 mile, and spirited driving in the mountains.

I just had a meeting with Rod Riley - Sales Director for Hawk Performance and they are introducing the new Hawk HPS 5.0!!
This is an upgraded version of the original Hawk HPS. Pretty much the engineers at Hawk were able to make the already amazing Hawk HPS, Better!! JT |

I like the Hawk HPS. More bite then stock and a little better stopping. I do use for Auto X and they get abused
