So...what do those throttle body spacers do?

An item like the Airaid 200-630-1 PowerAid Throttle Body Spacer...

How is it that it increases low end torque? I mean, from what I can tell, it just adds space between your throttle body and intake?

If it just channels air differently because of a bore, wouldn't a ported throttle body do the same thing?

They don't.

Throttle body spacers were a thing when carburetors were a thing, but with modern cars they are totally obsolete. You want the VMAX ported throttle body, perhaps?

I was planning on ordering a ported throttle body, and I just happened to stumble across the spacer on Amazon. It's description sounds like those "typhoon" which just seemed like passive fans in line with your intake.

Don't waste your $$ on a TB spacer.

Yep, had one on my 89 Silverado TBI. Helix power tower or something like that.. It made a funny noise and I thought it was cool

I honestly wouldn't spend money on a ported throttle body either. vitesse throttle controller should do the trick.

It's a good place to tap for nitrous after the MAF, that's about all I would ever use one for.

On some of the older TBI and carbureted motors they could add benefit to a few applications, but even then they weren't always a guaranteed performance adder. Like others said, with modern EFI, and especially the Camaro, pretty much a TB spacer is a complete waste of money.

There's no reason to buy one. People claim throttle response, but the butt dyno is a terrible liar.
