Carbon Fiber Detailing
So I used the search tool before posting this but couldn't find the answer to my questions.
My ZL1 is garaged but I am typically a detail freak with my cars. I have never had a car with any Carbon Fiber before so I am not sure how to keep it clean and protect it. As I understand it...I should not use a paste WAX. (I typically do not anyways) Does anybody know if The Aerospace 303 protectant SHOULD be used on Carbon Fiber? or is there another chemical out there I should use?

The carbon fiber on your hood is protected by a clear coat so you are able to wax it.
I use Collinite #845 insulator wax on my entire ZL1 and the carbon fiber insert looks spectacular with it. |

Thanks for the input... I just Spoke to a rep at Adam's polishes and he said the same. Its clear coated CF so I can detail and wax as I would any paint surface.
Thanks Denis/Jamekitz

No problem, dude! Try that Collinite 845 though. You can get it from Amazon. It is amazing stuff and it lasts a long time.

I use a combo of Meguiars, Adams, detailers professional, and Wolfgang products on my car. It's whatever your personal opinion is and what works best for you and your Z

Just FYI the owners manual specifically says not to wax your carbon fiber as it could create an uneven finish.

That's the matte black one from what I understand. The exposed carbon fiber is clear coated and perfectly fine to be waxed. I just wouldn't use an abrasive on it.

The only inserts you aren't supposed to wax are the early matt black ones from 2012.
All the exposed inserts or gloss painted inserts can be waxed and polished the same as the rest of the car as they are covered with the same clear coat paint. |

Try this for preparing the surface.
http://www.drbeasleys.com/carbon-fiber-glaze.html# Then top it off with your wax or sealant of choice. I love and recommend Synergy wax as it has sealant as a sacrificial barrier from bid bombs and carnauba for pop..
