Changing RPM shift point's?

Has anyone changed the RPM shift point from 6300? If so what would give the most Preformance gains? I have an Automatic.

I'm not sure what the technical term for it is. JDP mentioned they have rant set up shifting closer to 7000 red line vs the 6300.

Don't want to hurt my motor. I've always thought a higher shift point at maybe 4th or 5th gear would pick up better times?

Sounds like you just want to raise your rev limiter, mine is increased by 400 to 6700 rpm now. It just allows you to stay in the lower gears a bit longer thus when you shift your at a slightly higher RPM after the shift.

I believe the only way to do this is through a tune correct?

It all depends on your mods. If you've added a pulley you'll also have to worry about the SC rpms and fuel depending on injectors/fuel pump.

I believe you can set a shift point warning with a DashLogic unit!

The A6 stops making power at about 5900-6000 RPMs. I have a ton of Dyno pulls to show this...The M6's continue to make power up to about 6500 RPM...I don't see any reason to raise the Rev limiter much if any in an A6 honestly.

The only reason I was pondering the thought was when I run the 1/4 mile my car hits 6th gear. I was thinking if I could up the rev by 400 or so through 4th and 5th it would take up some of the lag and decrease miy time some.
