Not sure...may be better off just calling the dealer on this question...

Has yours gone bad or something?

No, just curious for drag racing. 180 seems optimal for both street and strip. 160 is probably to low for where I live. But good suggestion I'll call the dealer thanks

180 is what most cars have stock, 160 is what people run for performance.

We barely have tuning support outside of hptuners....

Untill companies like diablosport, hypertech, sct, etc start producing handheld tuners with canned tunes...its gonna take someone just doin some research amd finding one that fits.

Also check with the caddillac forums.

Also before anyone stuffs a cooler stat in there just to say they did it...make sure ya pay attention to operating temps all around. An engine thats not allowed to get to a decent operating temp usally runs less than optimal and can sometimes hurt any performance gains. (I.e. using a 140 when stock is 195... yes, this type of thing does occur cause some believe if lower is good, lowest is best.)

Also a good read of reasoning what you buy stat wise http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=383352

During my research and reviewing posts on this site I found many like get the coolant and engine oil temperatures below the “factory” designed range. For example, most think that if you replace the 185 degree thermostat with a 160 degree thermostat your engine will be cooler and will product more horsepower. Well, that is fine and dandy if you have a full-time race car. But if you are running your car as a daily driver and/or need it to pass emissions then you need to keep the 185 thermostat to keep the engine temperature up to ideal conditions for the emission systems to work properly. Not to mention, lower temperatures causes buildup of moisture and sludge inside your engine. If you notice while driving your car in normal conditions the oil temperature is just at or above 212 degrees – hot enough to boil off vapors and moisture inside your engine.
If youre not doing a full out race car, and use your car as a daily...its worth reading.

Notta prob... just to note... i made that mistake way back when i was into tuning j-bodies when i first started modding cars. Found a low temp stat, thw lowest available... and thought i needed it with the msd dis 2 and all...but my oil change interevals were sooner as the condensation wasnt getting burned off most trips and actually threw more cels than before due to certain systems not reaching operating temps.
