NO WEEDS diverters?

Going to purchase the NOWEEDS exhaust diverters for my 2014 Zl1, but was wondering if anyone else has them on theirs and how you like them. I want to know if people like the way they sound on thier zl1 with the diverters only with the stock headers. I'm not puting headers on my car because of smog so I'm looking for people who are happy with the way it sounds with just the no weeds. I think It will pass smog when that time comes because they are after the cats. But correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks in advance.

Nweeds

Chad hi, I have a 13 Z Stock headers, Noweeds and stock exhaust. In personal opinion I don't really care for the sound. Yes its loud as hell with the cutouts open, but to me it sounds to untuned. Also not sure if it's something in my cutout is defective but when open, and slowing down my driver side cutout is extremely raspy. I have looked theres no exhaust leaks everything is tight, so like I said not sure if its normal. I am looking to install either a Corsa or Borla Attack exhaust hopefully it will work better together. I see your in Roseville, CA I'm in Stockton if you want to meet up check out the NOweeds hear them in person, Shoot me a PM.

I had, yes had them, I was actually losing power because of them, this was proven with Data logging for Ted Jannetty, JRE...My drag strip times also dropped over 1/2 second when I removed them....Great sound, but not for Horse Power!

my .02 if you care about "perfromance" at all is spend that $900 somwhere else.

the nice thing about the facotry catback being dual mode as headers and no cats (cheaper than the diverters) are going to be lounder than most people want flap open. I actaully rewired mine so I can just force the flapps closed at all times and usually dirve it daily like this. lounder than stock fuse pulled for sure but not crazy. then witht eh flip of a switch back to sock will flaps open at times and it plenty loud for me if I want to be "heard" so to speak.

I am of the some opinion as Zl1 4fun they don't sound amazing just loud.

I have been thinking aobut running the stainless works catback w/headers with no cats myself. I really like the sound in the youtube videos.

I thought about diverters... but they are expensive and that 900$ could go to AR or corsa exhaust. not worried about it making too much noise at all. ARH and no cats at the moment. Once tuned, inside it will sound slightly louder than stock(while driving, but the idle you can tell a great difference), but get on it and you'll know its there

Hey Chad,

I have something similar except at the rear muffler. They are almost invisable unless you look under the car. You can check out the install sometime when we have an event and Im not working. Here is a crappy video I made so pre apologies for the poor sound.

Thank you all for your input. I had the QTP "cutouts" on my SS, but I went through like 3 sets because the flap would keep going bad, so just wanted to go with a different product this time, "if" I do it. I'm just looking for a little more "Rah" for this car without having to put on headers. I would love to put the headers on, but don't feel like taking them back off for smog, which I still have 4 years to do.

think about the JBA catless mids. they can be swapped in and out fast. think they are like $200.

High flow and cat less will throw codes. I have some Pfadt Long tubes and will try these before turning off the rear o2's.

http://www.bigdaddiesgarage.com/

With the cutouts at the rear the sound is a bit louder, but you can leave them open all of the time, no problem. Next event that we can both make it to I would be happy to take you for a spin if you want to hear the set up.

You could go High flow or catless if the above link fixes the CEL. Otherwise you have to tune the rear o2's off and possibly void your warranty.

If you need to tune, be sure to get the supercharger replaced as per the warranty for the isolator issues before doing so. The only dealer I recommend for any work whatsoever on the ZL1 is Abel in Rio Vista where we were at this past summer.
