Thoughts on 3" pipes
Im sure all im going to do to my car is cai, headers with high flow cats, maybe axle back, ptb, throttle controller, and a tune. At which point does it become important to switch out the 2.5" stock exhaust pipes to 3"? How sufficient are the stock catback pipes? Will I gain anything? Is it much of a gain?

Typically with simple bolt ons like you listed there is very little to gain with cat back exhaust other than sound. We typically will switch over to 3 in cat back with Forced induction. Ted.

This. The stock cat back sounds like crap but actually flows surprisingly well.

I have an auto. I pretty much thought of 1 7/8" headers versus 2" when I thought of this question too. Someone somewhere said 2" headers would benefit in forced induction setups but not so much in n/a aspired setups which led me to wonder the benefits of a 3" catback.
