Help ! CEL !! P507 code

Hello there guys . Just had the check engine light go on today . I'm a way -moderate pace driver . Took it to AutoZone to get the read on the code. It's P0507 . Air control system RPM Higher than expected. I am in no way mechanically savy so this kind of threw a curve ball at me . Looking for any explanations or solutions . Thank you in advance

How many miles on the car? It's possible you have a dirty throttle body. It could also be a vacuum leak. The dtc suggest you have a higher than desired idle.

Start with the throttle body since that is what you updated. Make sure the gasket is good and you tighten/torqued down the tb correctly. A vacuum leak could cause it. Verify everything is put back together correctly.

That code is for a higher than expected idle. Could be a vacuum leak, pcv leak,... check all those intake connections. Or it could just be the ECM is still learning the new increased airflow from the ported TB you have.

Once the idle stabilizes, that code will go away on it's own after a few drives with a normal idle speed.

You can verify your PCV system is sealed by removing your oil cap at idle. There should be a slight falter and idle speed affect when you pop that cap off. If there is zero effect on the idle with you taking the oil cap on and off, the PCV system is not sealed somehow. And retighten all the intake tube connections. Can wave an unlit propane torch around all the joints. If you get near a vacuum leak the idle will change as it pulls propane in.

Well, the PTB is highest possible culprit. Who ported it?

Most cars will self adjust for a ported TB. May take some driving and time, but eventually the idle comes back to normal.

Have you reset the ECU after the install so the computer can learn the new component?

It was given to me by my buddy . Who doesn't have a Camaro any longer . The unit looked brand new . And he said he probably used it for a few hundred miles .

I'm aware of that, I'm a GM tech. I'm simply saying that his PTB is the most likely culprit because it's the component responsible for the idle. I'm not saying it is bad.

I recently got a VMAX ported throttle body to replace my BBK, and as soon as I installed it - I received this code you're calling out, and the car wouldn't idle below 1800 RPM.

I wanted to replace my BBK because I had a Throttle Control code I just could not get rid of.

Well, I returned the VMAX and didn't order a new one because when I cleaned and reinstalled my BBK, the idle code went away - and so did the throttle control code. Hasn't been back since about 6months running.

You've had your TB for about a month, so not sure if it went bad or malfunctioned or something. Try cleaning it thoroughly to see if that helps. Check the o-ring seal and all hoses for leaks etc.

Good luck with your issue.
